Are you licensed to fly a drone commercially?
Yes. I am licensed under FAA Part 107, which is what separates a legal paid flight from a hobbyist with a drone. Anyone you hire to fly for money should be able to answer that without hedging, so ask them.
How much experience do you have?
I have been shooting since I was a kid. I worked on four Steven Spielberg documentary features, which have premiered at Cannes and streamed on HBO Max and Disney+, and I worked on the behind-the-scenes documentary for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Brown Dog Media is where that experience goes on the jobs I take directly.
What do you shoot on?
I primarily shoot on Sony and RED camera systems, but can adapt to whatever your production needs.
What areas do you serve?
Anywhere in Southern California, and I’ll travel when it makes sense.
Do you fly drones for construction and real estate?
Yes. Roofing, construction progress and property are the common aerial jobs. Flying commercially requires an FAA Part 107 license, which I hold. A hobbyist flying your property for money does not.
Who owns the footage when the job is done?
You do, for the use we agree on. Commercial use is written into the quote rather than charged back to you as an extra once the work is finished.
What does a project cost?
There is no rate card. Cost tracks scope: how many shoot days, how many people on them, and how much of the work is post. Tell me what you need captured and I will come back with a plan and a number.
